Nissan Tekton Rear Design Officially Revealed in New Spy Shots Before July 9 Debut
SUV Cars are gaining popularity day by day, and almost all manufacturers have started focusing on the said body format. Although SUV Cars are becoming more and more affordable with the establishment of a new segment, every enthusiast would agree that true SUV are those who have an acre of space, able to fit an extended family when needed. And are willing to take any challenge you throw at it.
MG Motor put up a shiny stall at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year, showing the automaker a range of Coming Up SUV Cars . One of them was the MG Gloster- a full-size body-on-frame SUV based on the Maxus D90 SUV sold in the Chinese Market. The specs of the Indian version were revealed recently.
The MG Gloster 2020 will be offered with the only 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine in the country that gives 218 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque. These numbers will make it the most powerful SUV in a segment which includes Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor, Mahindra Alturus 4 etc.
In typical MG fashion, Gluster would go on to set new benchmarks in the segment. Its equipment list will include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, frontal collision warning, hands-free auto-parking, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a large panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake, and a fully digital instrument screen.
Toyota made a mid-life debut for the Fortuner in Thailand, and the updated SUV was later expelled during testing in India, tied with emissions testing equipment. In Thailand, the Fortuner facelift was launched in two variants - the standard version and the range-topping legander variant.
The Legander variant gets an entirely new front-design, while the standard version has some minor cosmetic updates on the outgoing model. However, only the latter is expected to be brought to India, and a launch is expected in the first half of next year. BS6-compliant 2.7-liter petrol and 2.8-liter diesel engines will likely be retained with the facelift, however, like the Thai-spec model, the oil burner may be offered in a slightly higher position.
The Palisade is Hyundai's flagship SUV offering in North America, and a full-size SUV is also being considered in the Indian market, Tarun Garg, director, sales, service and marketing at Hyundai India, himself confirmed. If launched, the Palisade will be the most expensive Hyundai car to launch in the Indian market.
The Jeep Compass 7 Seater SUV (codename: Jeep 598) or the so-called 'Jeep Low D3-Row' SUV, according to a new report by Auto Esporte, will be an extension of the MK2 Jeep Compass facelift. Contrary to what the Motor 1 Brazil reported last year, the idea of making the Jeep Compass in the extended stage was rejected at an early stage.
The India-spec model will likely share its powertrains with the regular JEEP Compass. Having said that, the JEEP Compass currently gets a 2.0-liter oil burner (173 PS / 350 Nm), as well as a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol (162 PS / 250 Nm) motor. A 4 × 4 drivetrain will also be on offer. It is clear that the JEEP Compass 7-seat will be positioned above the 5-seat model, therefore, we expect it to earn a premium over the regular Compass.
ISUZU Motors India is the only automaker in India to have launched a BS6-compliant product so far, however, this is about to change soon as the BS6-compliant mu-X SUV is expected to hit the showrooms soon. The full-size, three-row SUV is expected to retain the 3.0-liter diesel engine, and will likely continue to produce 177 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque.
However, the Isuzu MU-X BS6 SUV will certainly be pricier than its BS4 iteration, and is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will retain its rivalry with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor, Mahindra Alturus G4 among other full-size SUVs in India.
