RC Bhargava, chairman of the country's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki India, said on Tuesday that production at their assembly plants would be affected by at least September, as their vendors lack working hours and shifts.
The carmaker has a combined manufacturing capacity of 1.5 million units at its Gurgaon and Manesar plants. In addition, Suzuki-owned Hansalpur (Gujarat) plant also has an installed capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum from the first line.
Speaking at TOI talks, Bhargava said, “I would not have received 250,000 tax production under these operating conditions. Employee safety is a non-negotiable factor. Now with such practices and social remote measures, 250,000 in a line cannot be reached until more and more development has taken place. "
Additionally, low inning timing is another factor in hamstring productivity. The president of MSI underlined, “Production is worth a lot of time. The working level of an innings is considered eight hours, we cannot work eight hours. Effective working time is somewhere around six and a half hours, so it is going to have an effect as well. "
After a 55-day shutdown due to Corona virus-led lockdown, Maruti Suzuki resumed operations at its Gurugram plant in Haryana on Monday, while the Manesar plant reopened in a single shift from May 12, 2020.
Commenting on the operation of the plant, Bhargava said, “I could not see any large volume production till the end of September. There are limitations to increasing volume production. Gurgaon has just started operations, Manesar is running at low capacity, we do not really have a vendor supply chain as all these factors can and will sustain any reasonable volume of production due to the construction sector .
