Maruti Suzuki has started production of the upcoming 2022 Baleno car at its Gujarat plant with major updates. Its first unit was launched on January 24, about a month before the market launch and price announcement of the new model of Baleno. According to the report, the new Maruti Baleno is going to be launched at the end of February.

The engine option of the existing hatchback can be found in the Maruti Baleno facelift. The current model of Baleno gets the option of two 1.2-litre petrol engines. One generates power of 83hp and the other generates power of 90hp with 12V mild-hybrid technology. Both these options can be found in the new model. There is talk of launching a full-hybrid version of the car as well. It is expected to get a manual gearbox. Maruti may replace the CVT unit of the existing Baleno with an AMT unit, similar to the one found in the Swift.

The Baleno facelift will get a completely redesigned dashboard which will be virtually identical to the new S-Cross that was recently introduced overseas. The AC vents are now placed vertically in a V-shaped pattern and a free-standing infotainment screen takes center stage. This unit makes the 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio system roomy and could possibly be 8.0-inches or larger. The infotainment system will be upgraded and there will be other features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
